Memorial Day has me off my game, but it’s time for our Wednesday Share Thread! Here’s what to do:
1 - Share a win! This is about celebrating ourselves and each other. Share something you accomplished over the last week, either personal or blogging-related.
2 - Share a resource! Is there something you discovered recently that you found helpful? Maybe an article, a webinar, a course, or someone to follow on social media. It could be anything!
Feel free to do one or both!
I’ll put mine below, and I encourage others to jump in as well.
My win is I had a nice, work-free Memorial Day camping weekend with my family.
My resource is a new book that just came out! It’s called Focused: Reclaim Your Time, Ditch Overwhelm, and Do Less Better. It’s by Megan Flatt, who hosts Focus Sessions which is where we got the idea to do the EBT work sessions.
The whole concept of the book is looking at productivity as a byproduct of focus. Instead of trying to do more, try focusing more. Megan digs into the science of focus and provides super actionable ideas to help you make time to focus, figure out how to actually focus despite everything going on around you, and what to actually focus on. I’ve seen a sneak preview and it looks so good - my copy is on its way to me today!
Win: I didn’t bring my computer on vacation this past weekend (first time ever, possibly).
Resource: I started reading another book written by Dan Sullivan (author of The Gap and The Gain) called 10x is easier than 2x. It is SO GOOD. Another one that I’ll recommend to food bloggers over and over.
Hi there!
My win is that I got to chat with Megan this week!
Resource: Just listened to the most recent podcast from Everything Cookbooks with Susan Spungen who shot the photos for her most recent cookbook with her iPhone (super encouraging for me since I use my phone for my blog). The Everything Cookbooks podcast is incredible for anyone thinking about a future cookbook but also has great tips on recipe writing and other blog-related stuff.
My win: I am caught up on my culinary school labs. I had been behind and this past week I finished on time. Now I’m off to do some “focused” homework:-)
My resource: I have an ACE Hardware store near me that has always had an Amazing kitchen section. I bought some really cool white platter dishes to display my food differently, and the store manager happened to mention that they will be bringing in even more fun and unique things in that section now that Bed, Bath, & Beyond is closing.
