hello everyone!
I want to start doing keyword research seriously. I already did the Aleka course but I wanted to know your opinion on this topic:
semrush vs ahrefs
pros, cons, which ones do you use and what is your experience.
Thanks in advance
Hello,
We use KeySearch and Rank IQ and are very pleased. There are monthly subscriptions for you to try. I highly suggest these.

Hi @Irene ! I know there are differing opinions on this, but I personally do not feel like semrush or ahrefs are necessary at all. They’re very robust tools, but you can get SO MUCH juice out of the keysearch-rankiq combo. That’s my personal favorite and way more affordable.
I like them both for different reasons, but only use the free versions right now because like Megan said they are robust and for me can be overwhelming at this point.
I totally agree with Megan. You really don’t need Ahrefs or Semrush for keyword research. As a matter of fact, you really won’t get your moneys-worth out of those platforms if you only use them for keyword research. Neither of those platforms use the Google API. You will have much more accurate KW research if you use the Keysearch / RankIQ combo.
I have used ahrefs before and liked it, but found I was able to more easily navigate and use Keysearch. So I agree with the group consensus that both ahrefs and semrush are very pricey and you can get more bang for your buck by just using Keysearch (or a combo of Keysearch and RankIQ if you’d prefer).
Hey @Irene,
I’m a copywriter for food bloggers so I do keyword research all the time.
Honestly, I feel like it depends on where you’re at in your business. I use Semrush because one of my clients has a larger team so they pay for me and another writer to have access to it. But again, they’re large enough that they utilize all of the tools.
If you don’t feel like you’re at the point where you need all of the features of Semrush or Ahrefs - Keysearch and RankIQ are great tools to use and more budget friendly.
