So I’m in the preparation stage of starting a cooking blog, and as I’m thinking about what I want for my blog long term I’m realizing how much I HATE video pop up ads.
Are video ads and video pop-up ads inevitable for monetization via ads?
I guess I’m wondering if I should be focusing on learning more about other ways to monetize my blog or if I can include ads without the rage inducing video pop up ads.
I cannot overstate the depth of my dislike for pop up ads. They make me want to commit arson and I refuse to have video ads on my blog if it is at all avoidable.
I get it, ads can certainly be annoying. From my personal experience (I’m with Mediavine), you don’t have to do video ads. But they are pretty high paying and a decently large part of the ad management strategy.
That said, there are a lot of ways to monetize your blog! I know people who sell ebooks very successfully, people who work with brands - either for sponsored content or for content on the brands’ channels, people who sell courses, etc. It can be done!
