Let’s keep getting to know each other!
For our second “getting to know you” thread, tell everyone how your 4th of July was! Or if you’re not in the US, tell us something fun you’ve done in the last 2 weeks.

Our 4th of July was spent at my Aunt and Uncle’s house on the shore of an island (Camano Island for those who are familiar). They host family every year and we have a cornhole tournament followed by fresh oysters cooked on the BBQ, and then dinner (also usually cooked on the grill).
The weather was perfect, in the low-80s and sunny - which is a rarity for the 4th in the Seattle area.
Looking forward to hearing what everyone else was up to!
Oh I love Camano Island! It is so beautiful up that way. I’m just 2-1/2 hours south of you in Gig Harbor area. It sounds like you had a wonderful 4th! Oysters on the BBQ are the best! Our family had a big BBQ planned at my place and then I went and got the … gonna have to reschedule a family fun time later this month.
My 4th was spent relaxing at home after my daughter’s wedding which took place on 7/1!
We are in Canada so we celebrated a few days earlier than July 4th. We celebrated Canada Day in the backyard with our six youngest children and our youngest grandson. We had a BBQ, played badminton, and taught the kids how to play horseshoes.
Hope you’re feeling better.
thank you!! I am better and I made good use of my quarantine time. Sometimes a little solitude can be good for the soul
Ugh, I’m so sorry you were sick @dahn - that is the worst. Hopefully you were able to get something else on the books for fun family time!
@Nosheenbabar - congrats to your daughter (and you)! I bet it was lovely.
@BBQandBaking - that’s right, I forgot that Canada Day is so close to 4th of July! I bet the kids loved learning how to play horseshoes.
Congratulations, on your daughters’ wedding. I’m glad you got some relaxing time after the wedding.
I’m feeling back to normal now, thanks Taryn!
I’ve been so out of the loop for the past few weeks! Just getting back into the forum.
We spent the fourth at my cousin’s house in Omaha. It was the very tail end of our summer RV to Montana. It was HOT! That night it got super stormy, so no fireworks. We had a great time with family, though!
We went to our town’s 4th of July parade, went home and grilled burgers and hot dogs and corn on the cob. We then proceeded to eat way too much and went down to the waterfront for a concert and fireworks!
No fireworks for us either as we were near Omaha as well at a campground We thankfully didn’t have to shelter from the storms as our campground had the tiniest of bathrooms! We went to a friend’s house for lunch.
We finally finished our pool! So we had friends over and enjoyed the day!
